INFORMACIÓN GENERAL

El recorridoThe Sydney 2000 Olympic Torch Relay is organised by SOCOG and will be sponsored by the insurance company AMP which is one of the main sponsors of the Sydney Games. The relay will begin in Greece on 12th May 2000 and travel through 12 Oceania' countries before arriving in Australia at Uluru on 8th June 2000. The Sydney 2000 Olympic Torch Relay will pass within one hour’s drive of 85 per cent of the Australian population, travel over 27,000 km and be carried by 10,000 torch bearers.

CARACTERÍSTICAS TÉCNICAS

DetallesThe torch is made up of an inner, outer and middle layer.
Inner layer: The inner layer is stainless steel and contains the fuel system and the combustion system.
Middle layer: The middle layer contains the fuel canister.
Outer layer: This layer encases the other two layers.

The architecture of the Sydney Opera House, the blue waters of the Pacific Ocean and the subtle curve of the boomerang inspired the design of the torch.
